Greek Letters

The Greek alphabet consists of 24 letters. Greek letters influenced the development of other scripts such as the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. Today, Greek letters are mainly used in science, especially in mathematics, physics, and astronomy. For example, the letter pi (π) represents the ratio between a circle’s circumference and its diameter, the letter epsilon (ε) is used for an arbitrarily small positive number, the letter sigma (Σ) represents a sum, etc. In astronomy, Greek letters are used to designate the brightest stars.
